A tallit is a prayer shawl, often of silk, worn over the shoulders by devout Jews during religious services.

The clip is used to retain the shawl under the neck, to prevent it from falling off.

This clip was created from copper anode plate and ironwood, with a pierced design of the Tree of Life. The metal portions were then gold-plated. It was made as a Bar Mitzvah gift.
