Banded Screw-Tip Powderhorn

A Southern-styled banded horn, fairly straight to be worn on either side. 3 turned black horn rings are heat-fitted to the body and secured with iron tacks. The turned beehive maple base plug is hollowed out for greater capacity and secured with iron tacks as well. The tuned screw-tip is olivewood, and threaded directly into the horn body. An iron eye in the base and forged twisted staple at the spout provide attachment for a strap.

The length of the horn body is 12’’ along the back. The overall length from tip to base plug is 18’’, and the base diameter is 2.5’’.
