Picture Frame Powderhorn

An unusual horn in a rare style. The turned maple base forms a picture frame for the reproduction 1750s miniature portrait. The horn body has a rich honey color, and the spout is carved with a heptagonal-to-round motif. Two carved rings at the spout provide attachment for a strap, and a twisted iron staple provides attachment to the base. A carved walnut fiddle peg plugs the spout.

The horn is 15’’ long along the back curve and 2.75’’ in diameter.

Please note: The horn has been aged, including the crack in the glass. The horn is waterproofed from the inside.
