Description Sword
bags traditionally were used to store the Japanese
sword. These bags often were made of silk or cotton
in a wide array of patterns, and helped protect
the lacquer finish from damage.
Several
weapons shown on this site include a custom-made
sword or knife bag (see the examples
below). The material for each bag is selected
specifically for the individual knife or sword
it contains. These bags look simple to make; they
are not.
The
custom sword and knife bags were created
and constructed by my sister, Elizabeth
Olson, who also designed and built this
website. Claudia LaRue, Elizabeths
talented friend, designed the pattern
and the tricky instructions for making
these bags.
