Matched Tomahawks (Commissioned)

A pair of presentation-grade pipe tomahawks with rope-patterned bowl and cast-steel heads with hardened edges. One head is blued and the other head is browned. Each has file work across the top of the blade.

The mouthpieces are turned from deer and the removable end plug/cleanout picks are wood with copper tips. The hafts are carved from beautifully figured curly maple, one with finger grooves below the head, the other on the grip.

Two bands of pewter are cast into the grips, and a copper cap is fitted above the axe heads.

The stands are formed from weathered cottonwood, oiled and lacquered. The supports are hand-forged steel.

The hafts are treated with aqua fortis and stained, with a hand-rubbed tung oil finish.

The tomahawk measures 22" from mouthpiece to plug, and the head is 7" long.
