Northeastern style fetish war club, hand-carved from straight-grain maple. An older style club, with a whitetail deer antler spike. Antler and bone were often used when iron was unavailable. One side is decorated with geometric patterrns in the shape of a bird’s wing and crest, the other side is decorated with a snake. The “crest” is formed to a sharp point and edge.
The geometric patterns are incised and dyed red and brown. Tthe club is stained honey maple color and finished with a rubbed tung oil finish.
The drop consists of bone and glass beads, buckskin thongs, and a feather in a silver cone.
The club is 28.5 inches long and the anler spike is 5” long.
