Commissioned

A smokable, ceremonial spontoon pipe tomahawk, based on a late 1700's piece in the Peabody Essex Museum, Salem, Massechusetts.

The richly decorated pipe tomahawk head is hand-forged into a long spontoon point with tapered scrolled finials  The blade is pierced and the piercings are filled with pewter. The eye is fileworked and the urn-shaped pipe bowl is hand-filed to shape.

The figured curly maple handle is inlet and filled with hot, cast-in-place pewter rings, mouthpiece and head. The plug and mouthpiece are walnut.

The blade is 10.5" long from pipe to point, and the handle is 18" long. Due to the length of the blade and the amount of pewter in the grip. This is a heavy weapon
