Sold: $750
Based on the warclub used in the movie “Last of the Mohicans” (but it’s not blue), this is a beautiful presentation war club carved from Grade 6 curly maple. The curl runs the full length of the weapon. The elegantly simple stock is hand-carved, treated with Aqua Fortis, heated, stained dark and then finished with several coats of hand-rubbed tung oil to bring out the beauty of the curl. A circular pattern of decorative brass tacks accent the butt below the blade.
A large Christmas tree spring steel blade projects from the striking edge. The blade is hand-forged and tempered, draw-filed, circle-pierced and browned.
The blade is 6.25" long by 2" wide. The club is 37" long, 6" wide by 1” thick at the butt.
About the Blade
Larry made the blade himself, with the finished piece becoming something of a happy accident. “It started out much bigger, but the power hammer got away from me and I made the tip too thin, so I cut it down for the club.”
