Forged Puukko Knife

I have been taking a course in forging recently and turned out this little Scandinavian knife. It was forged from scraps of mild steel wrapped around a cable Damascus center, and hand-filed into shape. The guard is solid copper, and the grip is composed of layers of antler and maple, with a walnut burl butt. The traditional Sami-styled sheath is made of walnut burl and leather, with a deerskin belt thong.

Overall length of the knife is 8”, and the blade is 4.5” long.

Architecture and award-winning museum-quality custom handmade knives, edged weapons, powder horns, tomahawks, war clubs, jewelry, metal sculpture, cribbage boards, flint and obsidian knives, Japanese swords, menorahs, and more from Tucson, Arizona artist and architect Larry Gotkin.
