Joe's Snake Tanto (Knife & Saya)

My then-14 year old son Joe came home from school with the rendered sketch of a tanto of his own design. I was so impressed with it that I used it as the guide for a blade for him (he also studied several martial arts, including sword).

This tanto features a Kris Cutlery acid-etched tanto blade with copper tsuba, fuchi and kashira, and hand-cast silver habaki and menuki. The samé is burgundy with white silk ito. The saya is spalted maple. The tanto is 17'' long overall, with a 10 1/2'' blade.
