Presentation Forged Pipe Tomahawk With Wire Inlay

Sold: $775

A beautiful and fancy presentation pipe tomahawk, hand-forged from a ball-pein hammer. This presentation pipe tomahawk is completely hand forged and filed to shape from high carbon tool steel, with a hardened and tempered edge. The round pipe bowl has filed wedding bands at the rim and base, a round sculpted pedestal and a squared chevron. The teardrop eye is heavy, with hand-filed fullers. The slender blade has a scallop pattern beneath the blade and alternating round and triangle filework along the spine. The blade is pieced with a bleeding heart design and finished with a dark blue patina.

The haft is curly maple, treated with aqua fortis and stained medium dark, with carved finger ridges at the grip and beneath the head. Sterling silver wire is inlaid into the haft on both sides in Rococo style. The wood is finished with several coats of tung oil, and polished. The mouthpiece and clean-out plug are turned from rare Black-and-White Ebony. The cap is carved with radial flutes around the clean-out hole.

The blade is 7.25” long overall and 2” wide across the edge. The hawk is 21” long from mouthpiece to plug, and the maple haft is 18’ long.
