The richly decorated pipe tomahawk head is hand-forged and filed to shape. The pe bowl has a rounded rim and two wedding bands sitting above a filed "V".The blade fuller is is filed in high relief. The bottom of the blade has a spur and a gentle beard, and the spine has an intricate ivy file pattern. The blade has a high polish and is richly blued.
The cap has a turned ring to receive the turned antler cleanout plug, which includes a spring-steel wire. The mouthpiece is turned from antler as well. The highly-figured curly maple handle is flute-carved in opposing directions, with a separating ring. Two cast-in pewter bands decorate the haft below the blade. The wood is finished with several coats of hand-rubbed tung oil, with a final coat of clear lacquer.
The display stand is forged from an old railroad spike.
The blade is 7.25" long with a 2.25" edge, and the overall length is 20.5" long.
